The VIP of my life, my mom, turned 68 this August. For few years now, we have been celebrating her birthday out of Manila, what with our love for road trips, travels, countryside and the likes.
Net surfing led my brother to Abe's Farm ,which we checked out a month before our mom's birthday. It was a treasure at the foot of Mount Banahaw- excellent food, courteous and attentive staff, and a tranquil atmosphere surrounded by greenery. Where better to celebrate an important occasion but in this farm?
We went right after typhoon Maring flooded many parts of Pampanga. Fortunately, Magalang, where the farm is, was not one of them. It rained hard though while we were heading to the farm.
But nonetheless, though not sunny, weather got better. My nephew and niece were "wowed" by the place. I am happy that young as they are, and as exposed to technology as they are, they appreciate nature. As soon as my 5 year old nephew got out of the car, he asked for his picture to be taken in front of the signage- the first time I have heard him do so.

We specifically requested for Camia 1 and Camia 2 cabanas, as they are the only ones with bath tub. I was surprised at how well they set up the room.
The kids were pretty much able to do whatever they wanted to despite the slightly muddy grounds. They were thrilled , which made our birthday girl very happy.
Dinner was served at the restaurant which looked like an old house, filled with asian decorations- and they were all good specially the sisig, burong mangga (we bought some take homes of these too) and tamarind shake. Kids had fun playing the pool after dinner.
There were no televisions and wifi was very slow, so we settled for the good old scrabble, which was provided in the room. It did made for a good family bonding especially that is the first time for the kids to play it. Until...my nephew refused to play the "Z" as he wanted to have a "zoo" without the "oo". :-D Then we all know, he was past his bed time.
The morning after, we strolled around the farm and went to a museum (yes there is one in the farm). Then it was time to say bye to the friendly staffs of Abe's.
It was definitely a good weekend spent with family and in a good place. Mom was happy. And we were all smiling.

Direction to Abe's farm from Manila:
Take the Angeles
Exit from NLEX ((45
minutes from Balintawak Toll). Close to the exit is the Marquee Mall. Follow the Magalang Road ,which is by the left side of the Angeles Exit, leading to Magalang town plaza. Landmark? Jollibee Magalang, of course, which is close to the Magalang Municipal Hall. After the Magalang Municipal Hall, turn right right after Total Gas Station, head towards Barangay Ayala. Go straight until after Pampanga Agricultural College, you will see the sign pointing to Abe's farm.
